The Faith of Blended Education in Colleges of Education

The Faith of Blended Education in Colleges of Education- TTAG CORDINATOR writes

The blended Education system in colleges of Education, if not intervened swiftly, will produce content-based teachers in the future lacking pedagogical skills to teach.

The upgrade in the status quo in the colleges of Education to the Four -Year degree has created undue residential challenges which have made the educational stakeholders implement a hybrid system of learning.

In this system of learning, trainees spend some of their contact hours online as well as having the traditional face-to-face interaction.

The complexities posed to trainees on the aspect of online learning are highly unbearable considering the paradigm in the colleges of Education. The practical oriented course,  Methodology, which highly differentiates trained teachers who have been to a college from any other teacher by imbibing in them the needed pedagogical skills and technique, is thought online🤔 . How?  What kind of teachers are we producing if this continues?

Upon the leadership engagement with the Director-General for Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC); Professor Mohammed Salifu, he made it known to the representative the steps taken as they have directed the Principals in the Colleges of education to submit a building plan towards the building of residential facilities by the government.

Until when will we wait on the government to build residential facilities to accommodate all batches?

Until when will trainees continue to go through the stress of virtual learning till the provision of residential facilities to curb this education menace?

Can't the stakeholders ( CETAG, and PRINCOF) put mechanisms in place to mitigate the plight associated with online teaching as we await the building of residential and other facilities?

I am of the view that private entities are always ready to embark on such projects when the opportunity is given. therefore, the stakeholders involved should give them the opportunity.

As the leading champion of this cause of National interest, let us have all hands on deck to facilitate this process.
